Experience an afternoon of magic in the classic fairy tale Sleeping Beauty.  Wear your favorite fairy tale attire and share in the excitement of the ballet!  Children of all ages are invited to join in the magic by entering the Princess Drawing.

Share in the tale of the beautiful princess Aurora, who as a baby is cast under the spell of Carabosse.  Attend her 16th birthday party given by the King and Queen where the famous Rose Adagio dance takes place.  Join the villagers and special guests and watch as the fairy tale unfolds and Princess Aurora falls asleep under the spell.  In the final act of the ballet some of your favorite storybook characters take the stage during a special celebration.  But the excitement isn’t over after the ballet is finished, since two lucky winners will join our royal characters on stage for a special presentation. Entry forms will be available in our lobby prior to the start of the performance.

West Michigan Youth Ballet features more than 60 West Michigan dancers ages 8 through 18.  Visit our Boutique to purchase a special remembrance of this magical day.

Sleeping Beauty has been choreographed and staged by choreographers Laura Berman and WMYB Artistic Director Stephen Sanford.  Both Berman and Sanford have performed with world renowned companies for a combined 40 years of experience.  They have independently taught and choreographed for companies and schools both in Michigan and abroad, inspiring young dancers with a love of ballet to perform full length performances, enriching their dance experience while sustaining the arts in our local communities.
